About Keith Preston

My name is Keith Preston and I am the attorney here at Preston Law Office. I was born and raised in Shelby County, Alabama — a graduate of The University of Alabama, and The Cumberland School of Law at Samford University.

I began my legal career as an Assistant State Attorney for the State of Florida, where I prosecuted cases and developed a deep understanding of how the government builds a case. That experience has made me a more effective defense attorney — I know what prosecutors look for, and I know where cases can be challenged.

I returned to Alabama in 1994 and have been in private practice here since. Over more than three decades, I have represented people from every walk of life facing a wide range of legal challenges — from disabling injuries to serious criminal charges to the loss of a loved one and the estate that follows.

For the past 15 years, I have focused my practice specifically on probate, estate planning, wills and trusts, and property title work. I genuinely enjoy helping families navigate this particular and often confusing area of law during what is inevitably a difficult time in their lives. But I have never stopped representing clients in criminal defense and personal injury matters — those roots go deep.

I am also a builder at heart. I have always believed that law practice — like any service business — works better when the underlying systems work well. I have invested in technology and process throughout my career, and that instinct for building and improving systems is reflected in how this firm operates today.
